We all want to make the most of our house – especially if we are planning on selling. We recognize that modern fittings and features are what buyers are looking for, but the cost of upgrading our home can put us off. However, there are changes we can make that don’t cost a lot of money and some that we can even do ourselves.

Here are a few ideas of what updates you can make to your home that won’t break the bank but will definitely increase the value of your home.

It can be really expensive to renovate a kitchen.  However, there are some things you can do to help make a kitchen renovation more affordable.

Lighting is a really simple fix that do wonders to the appeal of your home. Maybe update a few of your light fixtures.  Let natural light into your house by making sure that your windows are cleaned regularly.



The trend these days is for hardwood or laminate flooring. Carpets are difficult to keep clean and don’t wear well in high traffic areas. Hardwoods, laminates, vinyl’s and tiles are hardwearing and east to keep looking fabulous! This is a tricky one. Consider your neighbourhood carefully before adding a pool to your home. What attracts buyers in your area?  Are they families or young couples, or the elderly? While a young family might love a pool, elderly people will most likely not want the upkeep that comes with having a swimming pool.

What might be something to consider is putting in a smaller, plunge pool. They cost less while still adding the luxury of pool side summer life.
